JRD INDUSTRIAL
ENGINEERING

The fast-paced processes and principles that drive motorsport development are equally effective for rapid problem-solving and performance improvement across various industries.

Our approach begins with identifying the issue and determining its root cause through comprehensive data collection. This leads to an engineering brainstorming session where innovative strategies are developed. The solution is then executed using a combination of advanced tools and techniques, culminating in successful testing and validation.

At JRD, we bring precision, creativity, and expertise in manufacturing methods to tackle even the most complex challenges. Our experienced engineering team thrives on asking the right questions and delivering ambitious, effective solutions.

CAPABILITIES

Services and Capabilities

  • Advanced 3D Mechanical, Structural and Surfacing Design
As complex as an entire car, as simple as a single bracket, JRD designs, models, and assembles components to solve any problem. Every mechanism draws on our manufacturing knowledge, and is precisely created and checked virtually before a single prototype is made. When the real pieces come together, we already know they are going to fit.

  • 3D Scanning and CMM
When CAD and drawings are not available for existing components, JRD offers state-of-the-art 3D scanning and CMM (Coordinate-Measuring Machine) for fast, accurate reverse engineering and validation.

  • Suspension Geometry Analysis and Optimization
Proper geometry is crucial when designing any suspension system. The engineers at JRD have extensive experience designing suspensions for luxury road cars to SUVs, where comfort and predictability are key, to championship-winning race and rally cars where uncompromised performance is everything. We use sophisticated simulation software in addition to interactive and animated CAD models to ensure that desired results are achieved throughout the suspension travel.

  • Harness Design and Manufacturing
JRD offers engineering, design, and manufacturing of custom harness and control systems for race cars and high-end custom vehicles. We work with all the leading manufacturers of Power Distribution Modules, Engine Control, and Data Logging Systems. At the completion of a project, we provide schematics and full documentation for reference and future expansion.

  • Advanced Sheet Metal Design, Manufacturing, and Traditional Hands-On Coach Work
JRD offers a unique combination of cutting-edge technology and old-fashioned and rare coachwork. Derived from the CAD, JRD can source accurate laser (or water jet) cut and formed sheet metal parts to be welded or assembled in the workshop. We offer MIG and TIG welding of all metals, and we can design and provide necessary jigs and fixtures for low and high-volume production. For projects such as restorations, concept, and prototype vehicles we are proud to offer hand-made metal body panel fabrication using tools like English Wheel, Planishing Hammer, and Metal Shrinker/Stretcher.

  • Machining
JRD manufactures parts using CNC turning and milling in any material. The 3D CAD is transferred directly from the design computer into the multi-axis machining program, creating every detail.

  • Surface Treatment
We offer surface treatments for metal parts such as anodizing, plating, and powder coating.

  • Composite Manufacturing
JRD can produce patterns, tooling, and production components from various types of composite materials and manufacturing methods. The patterns are typically cut from a tooling block by a large 5-axis CNC router or in some cases 3D printed. The molds vary based on manufacturing method and material. We work in fiberglass using Polyester, Vinylester, and Epoxy resins, and Carbon Fiber in wet-layup and pre-preg.

  • 3D Printing
We offer 3D printing in various materials such as ABS, High Temp Nylon, Aluminum, Stainless Steel, etc. The 3D CAD is directly transferred from the design computer into the printer, creating every detail.
